Scholarships

SEA offers financial assistance to students who want to participate in our educational programming. See below for specific scholarship opportunities and application processes.

As of now (4/3/26) we have secured scholarship funds. Please read and consider the following points:

  • Thank you to the California Division of Boating and Waterways, the Marin Yacht Club Staff Commodores, the Belvedere Cove Foundation and Critical Control for ongoing support in 2026.

  • SEA is dedicating our own resources to an initial pool of scholarship funds nad anticipate growing that pool further for summer 2026.

  • We will accept applications on a rolling basis. If more applications come in than we have funds for we will put further applications on hold. As soon as we get more funds we will process them.

  • If you have questions please send an email to programdirector@sfsailing.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Belvedere Cove Foundation

The Belvedere Cove Foundation considers scholarship requests for sailing-related activities for individual youth (under age 18).

Who should apply?

  • Any youth whose family’s financial situation precludes him or her from fully participating in a sailing program.

How long does the process take?

  • The process for review, approval, disbursement of funds can take up to three weeks.

Limited funds

  • The Belvedere Cove Foundation has a limited number of scholarships available each year.

SEA Scholarships

Through the generous support of suporters, SEA has general scholarship funds available and considers requests on an on-going rolling basis and will award as our available funds allow.

  • Scholarships are on a sliding-scale based on annual household income.

  • You can apply for more than one student at a time.

  • Requests for multiple sessions for the same student will be considered on an individual basis.

  • If your family does not qualify under income guidelines but have special circumstances and are in need we encourage you to apply and outline those circumstances.

  • When describing your need, please only focus on your financial needs and circumstances, not your child’s interest in sailing or the benefits they might gain from sailing. Additionally, be specific and detailed. Vague responses may be rejected.

  • If you do not hear from us within a week of submitting an application, please reach out by emailing programdirector@sfsailing.org
