Excited to share a report on SEA members Peter and Jana’s journey from SF to Hawaii and then on to Alaska and back down through Canada to home. Peter and Jana left the Bay Area on June 8. They have completed two legs of their triangular journey - to Hawaii and then on to Alaska (August 1 to 24).

"When I lay in bed it feels like riding a roller coaster and on top of it I hear water swirling all around us. Then there are noises that the boat makes.... I lay in bed and try to completely relax my body and mind. The mind is the harder one. I am thankful for the meditation practices I have been doing. And then comes the morning and I can greet the ocean and love it in its full power. What a ride!"

What a ride indeed. We can't wait to hear more about it when you both return!

David’s sailing journey began in 2006 when he first caught the wind aboard Kitty Sark, a charming 16-foot wooden gaff-rigged catboat owned by his wife Alice Cochran. That first sail ignited a deep passion for the sea, leading David on countless adventures—from the coast of Maine to the icy waters of Antarctica. This passion is what ultimately brought him to SEA, where he has been a dedicated Secretary.

David's passion for early Antarctic exploration shines through in his writing, especially in his Sailor on Ice series about Tom Crean, one of Shackleton’s most steadfast crew members.

When not writing or sailing on San Francisco Bay, David continues to pursue his career in residential architecture.
