Fall Sailing is for youth sailors (11-14) who have previously participated in an SEA Summer Camp (Basic/Intermediate or higher)

Volunteer Spotlight

Michael Szymanski is long-time SEA member, camp parent, and volunteer. Over the last year Michael has been getting more involved with events and activities. One weekend recently he really went above and beyond! Michael along with new member (and newer volunteer) Robert Koch decided to tackle a huge amount of barnacle build up on Tackful. Donning wetsuits and armed with paint scrapers they dove into the harbor and spent a dirty, cold, and mucky couple of hours cleaning Tackful’s bottom.

Thank you Michael for going off the deep end (literally) for SEA!

Recent Member Events

Coast Guard Visits SEA

On Saturday September 7th, seven Coast Guard members came down to Loch Lomond Marina for a recreational sail with SEA. Kurt Sund and Doug Moler took their two boats, Matchless and Nimros, and headed for Red Rock. The weather was great with mostly light winds but enough for good sailing.

Two joined Doug on Nimros. One had been a small boat sailing instructor so was great to have onboard (he did all the steering). The other now wants to sign up for a class! Five joined Kurt on Matchless. Most of them got to be captain and take the helm. All enjoyed it.

We had East wind by the end of the day so we could sail all the way back to Loch Lomond Marina. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Thank you Kurt for organizing and supporting our Coast Guard community.

More Fun Races

On Saturday September 14th, we held the 2nd of 3 fun races out of Loch Lomond. Everyone came ready to go. We set out the course, rigged our boats, and headed out.Thirteen racers hit the water in three Catalinas and three Quests.

The wind was really blowing at 10-15 knots! Everyone was flying. We had a few spills and no one stayed dry. In the end, only two boats completed the course and given the conditions we split first place between them.

Everyone gathered at Andy’s for pizza and beer afterwards.We may not have done much racing, but we sure had fun. One more to go on October 12th! Can’t wait to see what happens this time.
